Nomads Make it Two Wins on the Trot

Having scored 328, when winning their game the previous week, Nomads topped that with a 329 total in their latest game to see off Jumbo Jet Set. Nomads set the game up in their favour by taking a 19 pin lead after leg one before The Jets clawed six pins back by winning leg two. Nomads then ensured their win by comfortably taking legs three and four to build a 39 pin lead ahead of the final leg. Jumbo Jets then bowled first and made a modest score to leave Nomads wanting only 20 to win. This was easily achieved although they were disappointed not to win that leg as well and allowed Jumbo Jets to escape with another consolation point. Nomads big hitters were Eddie Upright with 37 (14 stack); and 36 each from Wendy Coombes; Phil Jones & Jordan Bunn. For deflated Jumbo Jets, Liz Rowberry made 38; Dennis Compton 34 & Mick Stanton 31.

In the only other game of the week, the bottom two, The Borough and C&G Show, clashed with the former winning the game to leave their opponents somewhat adrift. C&G Show did take the lead after leg one, by five pins, only for The Borough to turn the game on its head by taking leg two for a 13 pin advantage. The game was then closely fought over the remaining three legs, each won by a single pin, with The Borough claiming two of those legs. C&G Show were finally left 69 pins to win the game but fell well short. For The Borough, best scorers were Julian Workman with 39; Michelle Court 37; & Charlie Few 36. C&G Show’s top scorers were Neil Jay and Dave Orton with 37 apiece and Rich Fisher 36 (12 stack).
