C&G Show Hit Form

Wednesday 22 October 2025

In the game between the bottom two teams, level on points before the start of the game, C&G Show celebrated a maximum points haul to leave opponents Bernie’s Bolts winless and now bottom of the league.

The win saw C&G Show register their highest score for some good while which was their first maximum points return for an even longer time, and it was spearheaded by Dave Orton with 37, Lily Orton 36, and Keith Edwards & Paul Hollis 35 each. They took a two pin lead after leg one before extending it to ten pins by winning legs two and three. Any hope The Bolts had to get back in the game evaporated when scoring only 55 pins in leg four to which C&G replied with a 69 pin leg for a 24 pin lead. Then, in the final leg, by making another good score, C&G left The Bolts wanting 90 pins to win which was well out of reach. Best for The Bolts were Andy Gill-Smith 34, Craig McSweeney 33 & Paul Blayney with 32.

After beating top of the table last week, The Borough couldn’t find the same form against Jumbo Jet Set winning their second consecutive game. The Borough won legs one and five narrowly but couldn’t match Jumbo Jets push in the middle legs with leg four pivotal which Jets won to increase their lead to 18 pins. A good last leg by Jets then left The Borough wanting 80 pins to continue their promising start to the season but despite a good attempt, fell short. Dennis Compton, for Jumbo Jets made 38, and Rich Johnston & Dave Marriott 36 each, while for The Borough, Steve Mears scored 37, Michelle Court 35 and Steve Court & Scott Few 34 each.

The top of the table clash saw Engineers beat an out-of-sorts Lodge Farmers making their lowest team total for several years. Farmers dropped 12 pins behind after leg one before threatening a revival by winning leg two if only by two pins. However, Engineers immediately extended their lead back to 12 pins by winning leg three. Then like the other games this week, leg four was decisive when Engineers scored 74 pins, the highest leg score of the game, to which Farmers response was only 59. Farmers last leg score, their worst of the game, finally left Engineers needing only 25 for the match which was easily achieved on their way to winning the last leg. Engineers had  Mark Ganderton scoring 46 (incl stacks of 12 & 11), Andy Clewlow 36 and Luke Sanders 35 (incl 13 stack). For Lodge Farmers, Richard Long & Paul Cotton made 34 each and Lynne Pemberton & Glyn Morley 33 each.
