Bernie’s Bolts Go Top
Bernie’s Bolts Go Top – Just!
In a low scoring and exciting game, Bernie’s Bolts edged their game with The Borough by the
narrowest of margins - just one pin. The Bolts were adrift by five pins after leg one but, with The
Borough faltering in leg two, turned the game around to lead at that stage by nine pins. The Borough
then recovered well to take legs three and four and reduce their deficit to a single pin. Bowling the
first of the last legs for each team, Bernie’s Bolts managed a 60 pin total to leave The Borough
needing 62 pins for the win. Although starting their pursuit well, The Borough gradually found
scoring difficult, could only tie the leg, and finally left The Bolts one pin winners and taking the
majority of league points on offer.
Mark West, Mark Andrews and Craig McSweeney made 36, 33 & 32 respectively for Bernie’s Bolts.
For The Borough best were Julian Workman with 36, Kim Workman 35 and Tom Baker 34.
Lodge Farmers ended their season’s poor start by winning their third game when rattling up the
league’s highest team score so far this season at the expense of Jumbo Jet Set. Lodge Farmers took
an eight pin lead after leg one which Jumbo Jets reduced to only three pins at the conclusion of leg
three. Jumbo Jets though were unable to maintain their improvement and finally left Lodge Farmers
wanting only 55 pins to win. And aided by a Jamie McGill stack of 12, Lodge Farmers took the last leg
to run out comfortable winners.
With that stack, Jamie McGill finished with 42 pins to record the league’s highest individual score to
date and he was well supported by Alex Lightfoot with 38 pins and 34 each from Tim Jones and
Frank Morris.
Best for Jumbo Jets were Len Quartly, Rich Johnston and Mick Stanton with 36, 35 & 33 respectively.
